Shannon Doyle Milburn
Chalmette, 7th Ward, Treme
My name is Shannon Doyle Milburn and I am a born and raised local New Orleanian. I am a proud wife and mother and also currently own 5 pets, 2 dogs and 3 cats.
I started my formal work with animals as a volunteer with the Louisiana SPCA, from there I was a volunteer at the Audubon Zoo and also out at the Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species. (ACERS)
It was there at the Audubon Institute, that I realized that I wanted to work full time with animals instead of only being a weekend volunteer. I quit my regular full time job and became employed with the Audubon Nature Institute at the Zoo. After 2 years of working at Audubon Zoo, I moved on to work at an extremely busy and large uptown dog daycare and boarding facility where I furthered my hands on experience with dogs and cats. I was employed there for a year and 1/2 before I decided to move into the veterinary field.
I then went to work for an upscale and very busy veterinary hospital, training and working as a vet tech and kennel assistant in the uptown area and stayed there for 2 years before deciding that I wanted more flexibility and control over my own schedule. So I became a contractor with Uptown Girls Pet Services in September 2018 with several solid years of dog, cat, pet, animal care experience behind me.
I have learned so much at each job and have had an amazing journey while pursuing my passion of animal care taking. The animal and human bond is the most spectacular of any relationship.
